In 1968 he was named as chairperson of the newly formed
Conference Archives and History commission
and has served on that commission to the present time.
Following is a list of churches served:
In October of 1964, Rev. Seaton was appointed to Zion Hill Church in rural Lafayette County, MO. At the 1965 Annual Conference the charge was expanded to include Concordia, MO. He served both churches until 1969. At Concordia he designed and helped build a classroom addition with office and restrooms
In 1969 he was assigned to the Swope Park Church in Kansas City with the challenge of integrating the church to match the changing racial makeup of the community. Within 5 years the church was 1/2 black and 1/2 white in membership. While there he was part of the first Meals-on-wheels program in the US working with a local nursing home that prepared the food. The program was so successful that it was picked up by the USDA. With many other outreach programs the church became a center for community activities and development.
In 1976 Rev. Seaton was appointed to the White Avenue United Methodist Church in the Northeast area of Kansas City. During his pastorate there he began an extensive youth ministry and a center for Senior Adults. He was named "Man of the Year" for Jackson County in 1977 and awarded the District Award of Merit by the Boy Scouts for his community work.
In 1982 he was appointed to a suburban Kansas City congregation in Platte City.
During his tenure there new outdoor recreation facilities were constructed including a baseball field and a soccer field
In 1985 He was assigned to Epworth UMC in Sedalia and the Lake Creek UMC South of Smithton.
After semi-retiring in 1991 he was appointed to Leeton and Eldorado Churches. He began afterschool programs, a youth ministry, food pantry, and a free clothing distribution center for the area while serving these churches.
