Immigrants were allowed 60 acres per person so they probably farmed 300 acreson the peninsula formed by the Pontomac and the Rappahanoch rivers. They probably had another son George who died young in Scotland. James and Frances also had other Children born in Virginia: Jane in 1717, James II in 1723, and another George in 1726 Frances, wife of James Seaton I died on Dec. 12, 1730 and on Mar. 11, 1731 James married Grace Dounton

Benjamin Seaton and his new wife Mary Bird came to the Horse Creek Valley in 1785 in what was to become Greene County, Tennessee. Land in that area was offered to soldiers of the Revolution. The land had been ceeded by North Carolina to the Continental Congress sdo that they could offer it to the soldiers but it was reclained by the state of NC and they tried to collect taxes. Settlers were disgusted and formed their own state of Franklin and tried to join the Union. It was during the time of the state of Franklin that Benjamin and Mary arrived.
